Hybrid Work: Blue Cross has transitioned to a hybrid workplace where employees within driving distance of our Berlin, VT office work Wednesdays in the office with flexibility to work remotely the rest of the week. The qualified candidate will live within 50 miles of our office and have a flexible schedule particularly during legislative sessions and other occasions.
Media and Government Relations Liaison Responsibilities:
Work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to develop media strategies relating to BCBSVT programs and activities.
Maintain relationships, develop, and pitch stories within Vermont and other targeted national media outlets, journalists, and other public stakeholders.
Draft press releases, statements and other materials relating to health care issues, policy developments, and company initiatives.
Contribute to the tracking, monitoring, and analysis of political, legislative and regulatory developments to enable timely development of strategy and program involvement when necessary. This includes deep understanding and engagement with key agencies and stakeholders in the regulatory review and response process, with a focus on legislative and regulatory analysis, position development and action plans.
Register as a lobbyist with the state representing BCBSVT and maintains up-to-date filing requirements and deadlines.
Successfully communicate up, down and across BCBSVT. Understand internal and external audiences and tailor communication appropriately.
Attend external meetings at locations around the state with regulators, special committees, and stakeholders including times outside of regular work hours such as early mornings or evenings.
Media and Government Relations Liaison Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in government, political science, public policy, English, or a related field is required.
Master’s degree preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and leadership is essential.
Minimum of 5 years of work experience in fields relating to these areas.
