Lobby Day
Empowering Vermont's Business Leaders to Advocate for Change
Annually, VBSR and its partners, along with business leaders, gather in Montpelier during the legislative session. Their unified goal: to urge legislators, other businesses, and Vermont citizens to support bold action on VBSR’s legislative priorities.
In recent years, this effort has been focused on climate change.
Businesses for Climate Action Lobby Days have included issue briefings, advocacy trainings, a press conference, and meetings with legislators where members direct lobby on behalf of our priorities. The day is rounded out by professional development trainings and networking celebrations – a full day of impact!
Maximizing Impact: The Agenda of VBSR's Lobby Days
These Lobby Days not only raise awareness but also provide opportunities for members to build relationships with lawmakers and help build momentum to advance legislation. We invite you to join us as we leverage business advocacy to help move the needle on critical, forward thinking environmental and social change.
Legislative Milestones: VBSR's Advocacy in Action
Over the past three decades, VBSR has led many legislative successes, including:
- Farm to Plate, an initiative promoting locally sourced food and sustainable agriculture.
- Marriage Equality, advocating for equal rights in marriage.
- Ban the Box, supporting fair employment for all, regardless of criminal history.
- Earned Paid Sick Leave, ensuring workers' rights to paid sick leave.
- Child Care reforms, improving the quality and accessibility of child care.
- The Global Warming Solutions Act, a crucial step in climate change mitigation.
- Clean Water initiatives, preserving Vermont's water resources.
- Home Solar programs, encouraging renewable energy adoption.
- And many more.
As we continue to represent our members and all Vermonters in the State House, we remain steadfast in our mission to bring about meaningful change, ensuring each Lobby Day leaves a lasting, positive impact.
