BIPOC Community Navigator for the BIPOC Home & Business Ownership Project

Vital Communities, a regional nonprofit located in White River Junction, VT, in partnership with members of the BIPOC community, seeks a BIPOC Community Navigator to foster BIPOC homeownership, business ownership, and belonging in the broader Upper Valley region of VT and NH. Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a new position and offers a great opportunity to collaborate with diverse community members and to shape the body of work. The BIPOC Community Navigator will build strong community relationships, organize events, connect BIPOC community members with housing and business resources, advocate for fair housing practices, collect and analyze program data, and document project and relevant initiatives. The Navigator will work closely with Vital Communities housing staff and BIPOC community members.

About the community partners for the BIPOC Home and Business Ownership Project:

Julius Turner and Conica Jackson, as residents of the Upper Valley and members of the BIPOC community, have engaged with groups and efforts focused on housing, small businesses, and belonging in the region. Julius Turner and Conicia Jackson approached Mascoma Bank and Vital Communities about a partnership due to an interest in developing capacity for providing concrete assistance in homeownership and business ownership to new and prospective BIPOC community members.

Location:

This is a flexible on-site position with remote work options available. This position requires regular travel to in-person meetings and events around the Upper Valley region in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Hiring Range:

$65,000 – $75,000 plus benefits
