Virtual Policy Forum on Medical Debt Relief

Hosted by the Office of the Vermont State Treasurer, Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, and the Vermont Public Interest Research Group
Vermont has some of the highest health care costs in the country, putting many Vermonters just one medical emergency away from crushing debt through no fault of our own.
Join Vermont Treasurer Mike Pieciak, Rhode Island Treasurer James Diossa, legislative leaders, and local and national experts for a Virtual Policy Forum on Medical Debt Relief – Thursday, March 6 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.
The panel will discuss Treasurer Pieciak’s proposal to eliminate $100 million in medical debt for Vermonters using a one-time investment of $1 million—all with no new spending. Treasurer Diossa will also share insights from Rhode Island's successful medical debt relief program, which has eliminated millions in debt for vulnerable residents at pennies on the dollar.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Additional panelists to be announced.
