POSITION: 6-Month Internship, paid or for college credit (ideally September/October through February/March)

POSITION OVERVIEW
Special Olympics Vermont looking for a dynamic, creative, and passionate Social Media & Communications Intern to join our team. As an intern, you will play a key role in supporting our digital presence, engaging with our community, and helping to promote our brand across various platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create, plan and share content across all Special Olympics Vermont social media platforms on a regular basis
• Update and maintain our communications calendar, ensuring that content is consistent and aligned with our mission.
• Design and create engaging content using Canva and other design tools. Ensure all content is on-brand with Special Olympics Vermont and visually appealing.
• Post live from events, trainings, and competitions, capturing moments that showcase the impact of Special Olympics Vermont.
• Conduct research to support our campaigns, keeping track of trends and insights. Analyze post engagement to inform future strategies.
• Develop fresh, creative ideas for new social media content and campaigns that resonate with our audience.
• Interview athletes, volunteers, and supporters, and create compelling stories that highlight the mission of Special Olympics Vermont.
• Gain an in-depth understanding of Special Olympics and Special Olympics Vermont, and confidently speak and write about our mission, values, and initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficient knowledge of all major social media platforms and trends (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.) and their best practices.
• Proficient in using Canva to create graphics, social media posts, and other content. Experience with graphic design is a plus but not required.
• Self-starter with the ability to come up with new ideas, engage with our audience, and contribute to creative projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to initiate and conduct interviews.
• Though not required, a genuine interest working with Special Olympics, sports, and/or non-profits is a plus!
