Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $95,000–$115,000, based on experience and credentials.

POSITION SUMMARY
Norwich Solar is seeking a versatile Senior Sustainable Energy Engineer to lead the design and engineering of commercial geothermal systems, utility-scale solar PV projects, and medium voltage infrastructure, with opportunities to contribute to energy storage and EV charging initiatives.

This senior-level position spans the full project lifecycle—from conceptual design through commissioning—and requires strong technical breadth, collaboration skills, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will hold, or be eligible for, a PE license in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, or Maine, and have a proven track record in delivering multi-disciplinary renewable energy projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Engineering
Create conceptual layouts and detailed designs for geothermal systems, solar PV arrays, and battery energy storage systems.
Perform energy performance modeling using tools such as Helioscope, PVsyst, and related platforms.
Develop Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages, ensuring compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, UL, and local building/electrical codes.
Prepare procurement specifications and support vendor evaluation.
Lead or support utility interconnection applications and coordination.
Conduct site visits with utility engineers, ensuring adherence to IEEE 1547 and utility-specific standards.
Construction & Commissioning Support
Provide engineering oversight during construction and commissioning phases.
Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and support as-built documentation.
Participate in QA/QC inspections, performance testing, and troubleshooting.
Perform final commissioning tasks, including capacity verification and warranty documentation.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner with Development, Project Management, and Construction teams to ensure design intent and technical quality.
Support permitting and interconnection documentation.
Contribute to continuous improvement of design tools, templates, and best practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
5+ years experience in Utility Scale Solar PV, or Medium Voltage electrical system design, or Geothermal engineering.
Strong command of NEC (Articles 690 & 705), NESC, IEEE, and UL standards.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, and related modeling tools.
Field experience in construction-phase engineering and troubleshooting.
Ideal Qualifications
Experience with energy storage systems (ESS), SCADA/DAS, or microgrids; or
Familiarity with utility interconnection in ISO-NE or NYISO territories; or
Structural design experience for PV racking and mounting systems; or
Experience with Geothermal systems.
PE licensure—or eligibility for licensure—in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, or Maine is preferred.

Annual salary range of $95,000–$115,000, based on experience and credentials.
