Susan Loynd, M.A., SHRM-SCP

Strategic HR Business Advisor, The Richards Group

Susan Loynd, M.A., SHRM-SCP, is an accomplished, certified, senior human resource executive with over 25 years' experience as a business leader. She is a subject matter expert in the areas of Business Acumen, Talent Acquisition, Training and Development, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, and Employee Relations. She is a Strategic HR Business advisor and consultant for The Richards Group. and has been an adjunct faculty member at Community College of Vermont and Vermont State University for over 20 years. Prior to joining TRG she was the Director, Administration & Human Resources at Washington County Mental Health Services for 21 years.

She offers knowledge across business disciplines in a variety of industries, including public, non-profit and private sector entities. She has delivered a variety of online, face-to-face, and virtual human resource and business education courses including human resource management, and employee relations: creating a positive workplace culture.

Tom Cheney

Executive Director at Advance Vermont

Tom is an experienced leader in government and the nonprofit sector. He has been the executive director of Advance Vermont since its founding in 2017. Prior to her current role, Tom served in the Vermont Department of Human Resources as commissioner and deputy commissioner. He has also worked as a legislative assistant to Congressman Peter Welch in Washington D.C. and chief of staff to Vermont Speaker of the House Shap Smith. Born and raised in Vermont, Tom graduated from Milton High School and the University of Vermont. He serves as a justice of the peace, vice chair of his town’s board of civil authority, and on the board of trustees at Lund. Tom previously served on his local school board.

Mel Houser, M.D. (she/they)

Executive Director at All Brains Belong

Dr. Mel Houser (she/they) is a family physician, and Founder and Executive Director of All Brains Belong VT, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to support the health and belonging of people with all types of brains. All Brains Belong has pioneered an innovative model that integrates medical care with social connection, employment support, and community education. Dr. Houser provides neurodiversity training to organizations around the country about how to create workplace environments where all employees can get their needs met and thrive.

Alison Lamanga

Director of Impact at Vermont Works for Women

Alison (she/her) is a nonprofit leader with more than 20 years of experience developing and managing people-centered nonprofit programming in Colorado and Vermont. In her current role at Vermont Works for Women, Alison serves as the Director of Impact, overseeing the organization’s direct services including youth and adult career exploration programming, career coaching, and justice services. Additionally, Alison oversees Vermont Works for Women’s gender equity services, addressing systemic bias and barriers in the workplace to create an equitable Vermont where people of all identities and backgrounds have equal access to opportunities and to thrive economically.

Chelsea Bardot Lewis

Chief Operating Officer at Working Fields

Chelsea Bardot Lewis leads with a deep commitment to social justice and equitable economic opportunity. During her time as COO, Working Fields successfully raised over $2 million in equity capital and doubled revenue within three years. Chelsea’s expertise in impact investing and social enterprise was honed at the Vermont Community Foundation, where she contributed to advancing the Foundation’s place-based mission investment portfolio. Prior to this, she led the Business Development Section at the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, gaining an understanding of the power and limitations of government, as well as policy making and the legislative process. She lives in Waterbury, VT with her partner Nate and two energetic and curious boys, Jack and Will.
