The Economic & Social Impact of the Arts in Vermont
Join Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) and The Stone Church for networking, food, and drinks as we engage in discussion about the far reaching economic and social impact of the the arts in Vermont. Our generous hosts at The Stone Church, are a staple in the Brattleboro community. Having restored and revisioned their 140 year old former church, they have set the stage for a stunning, yet intimate venue for live music, public and private events since 2016.
Art is an integral part of Vermont’s identity. The arts are the glue for our tight-knit communities, a platform for social justice, and also a powerful driving force in Vermont’s economy. The Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 – an economic and social impact study of the nation’s nonprofit arts and culture industry – found that the Vermont arts industry “generated $158.6 million in economic activity during 2022,” which supported “2,712 jobs, provided $112.8 million in personal income to residents, and generated $34.8 million in tax revenue to local, state, and federal governments.”
Our panelists will reflect on the waves of economic impact generated by Vermont’s arts, their experiences with building community through art, the ties between art and tourism, and how our state is uniquely positioned to be a leader in art. This event is a part of the VBSR People.Planet.Prosperity. Speaker Series, where we come together to learn from experts and innovators in the Vermont business community.
This is also a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues, make new connections, gain new ideas and inspiration, and have some fun! This event is open to anyone interested in VBSR’s mission: to leverage the power of business for positive social and environmental impact.

Thank you to our host!
Located in a renovated Victorian Gothic church in the charming, artsy, and eccentric hamlet of Brattleboro, VT, the decor of the former All Souls Unitarian church expresses the culturally inclusive nature of the original congregation, mixing elements of the Renaissance with Gothic Revival, Celtic and Scandinavian folk designs.
Brattleboro has long been home to many world class musicians and artists, but often lacked a proper venue to support these artists locally. The Stone Church has become that venue that artists want to play and the showplace that music lovers don’t want to miss.
The Stone Church team has breathed new life into one of the most lovely buildings in the region, creating a modern venue in sound and comfort, while maintaining the character and beauty of the original, 140-year-old church.
