Job Summary/Objective:

The Quality Systems Engineer owns the company's Quality Management System and quality compliance processes, ensuring they remain effective, audit-ready, and aligned with applicable standards and customer requirements. This role works across the organization to ensure customer quality issues are effectively addressed and drive sustainable corrective action. The Quality Systems Engineer also provides leadership on continuous improvement projects spanning both manufacturing operations and business processes.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Maintain and improve the quality management system to ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements
Plan and execute the internal audit program: develop the audit schedule, conduct process and system audits, document findings, and drive closure of nonconformances
Serve as a lead point of contact for customer, registrar, and third-party audits; coordinate audit responses and follow-up actions
Administer and lead continuous improvement or CAPA projects: assign, track, and verify actions to closure, and drive the use of structured problem-solving methodologies across the organization
Ensure the functionality of the document control system, including creation, revision, approval, and obsolescence of controlled documents
Develop and deliver QMS training, including onboarding employees on quality system procedures and identifying quality training needed
Chair management review, including preparation of quality metrics, trend analysis, lead meeting and discussion and follow-up on action items.
Support supplier quality system development, including supplier evaluations, supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), and supplier onboarding
Lead risk-based thinking activities within the QMS, including process risk assessments and mitigation planning
Review customer agreements and quality requirement documents to identify quality system obligations; flow down customer-specific requirements into QMS processes, procedures, and control plans
Support change management by evaluating the QMS impact of process, product, organizational changes and customer requirements
Analyze quality data to identify trends and prioritize improvement projects
Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving teams to resolve internal nonconformances, quality escapes, and recurring process issues.
Provide oversight of the nonconforming material process across production, customer returns, and incoming inspection, including identification, segregation, disposition.
Provides backup support for processing customer returns as needed
Provide leadership and guidance on Manufacturing and Business process improvement projects in support of quality initiatives
Serve as the primary resource for day-to-day quality questions and special situations across the organization; exercise independent judgment to resolve issues within established quality system requirements and escalate complex or high-risk matters to the Manufacturing and Quality Engineering Manager

Required Education, Experience, and Eligibility Qualifications:

BS degree in science, business, or equivalent experience
3+ years working within a Quality Management System compliant with ISO 9001:2015, including QMS administration and internal/external auditing.
Demonstrated knowledge and leadership experience of quality management processes, process documentation, and ISO standards
Familiarity with standard business processes and business process reengineering: Sales, quoting, product development, Customer service, inventory and order management, shipping, procurement, quality assurance
Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques
Demonstrable experience training others in process and procedures
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
Demonstrated ability to lead and be part of multidisciplinary teams
Self-directed and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range $70,000 - $95,000
