Policy and Grants Manager
Schedule: Hourly, full time, non-exempt (30–32 hours/week)
Compensation: $65-$75,000/year + competitive benefits allowance
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Winooski, VT — including office, community, and remote work

About us
Winooski Partnership for Prevention (WPP) works to prevent substance use disorders by educating
and empowering the Winooski community.
The organization began in 2003 as a group of local leaders and community members addressing
substance use and violence. It solidified its focus on substance use prevention in 2010 when it
became an independent nonprofit using an applied public health strategy.
The organization has had consistent leadership of an experienced executive director, board of
trustees, and community partners.

About the position
The Policy and Grants manager will lead the WPP's policy and grant work in support of the mission
of the organization. They will support the community as it considers policy changes to reduce
substance use. The policy and grants manager will also manage grant tracking and applications.
They will work closely with the Executive Director and the Substance Use Prevention Educator,
community members, and regional public health partners.
Ideal candidates will have at least 7 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, relevant
education and or skills, and bring energy, optimism, and follow-through.

What the Policy and Grants Manager will do

Policy
• Advise on public health strategies that reduce substance use and support recovery in Winooski
• Use the Vermont Strategic Prevention Framework to design, implement, and evaluate
interventions
• Work on local, regional, statewide, and (where relevant) national policy
• Facilitate connection among Winooski community members around shared goals, needs and
interests
• Partner with our Prevention Educator to support the Winooski School District

Grants
• Track grant deliverables in a way the whole team can see
• Keep a grant reporting calendar and collect information from staff and consultants for reports
• Stay current on the federal and state rules relevant to funding
• Watch for new funding opportunities that fit the WPP mission and resource needs
• Assist with strategic and sustainability planning

Communications
• Provide content suggestions for the WPP’s monthly e-newsletter and co-manage the subscriber
list
• Act as main point of contact for the WPP’s Digital Designer for website and social media
• Represent WPP at community events, for example, at farmers markets, community cleanups,
and coalition meetings

Supervisory duties
The Grants and Policy Manager supervises interns and volunteers

What the WPP is looking for
• Motivated to prevent substance use disorders using a public health approach
• Master’s in Public Health, Public Policy, Health Policy, Health Education, Community Health, or
Global Health degree or equivalent is preferred
• Committed to honoring the humanity in everyone
• Independent work style, managing own time and priorities
• Skilled communicator
• Able to access transportation to off-site events and meetings
• A plus: Familiar with the Winooski community

Where and how the Policy and Grants Manager will work
WPP's office is in the O'Brien Community Center in Winooski. The WPP provides a desk, computer,
shared phone, and kitchenette. The day-to-day will be a mix of office, community, and remote. WPP
is a certified breastfeeding-friendly employer and a certified 3-4-50 employer, and is working to earn
Recovery Friendly Workplace certification.
