Can local food save the world?

Vermont’s local food movement is a national leader. There are ambitious goals: the Vermont Farm to Plate plan calls for 10% local food consumption by 2020, while the New England Food Vision aims for 50% of all food consumed in New England to be from local sources by 2050. But we have a long way to go: Currently just 7% of Vermont’s food is sourced locally. We discuss the history and future of the local food movement, and a new documentary series on Vermont PBS, The Local Motive.
