VBSR Welcomes Ed Richters as Finance and Operations Manager

Burlington, Vt. (February 17, 2025) – Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) is pleased to announce that Ed Richters has joined the organization as Finance and Operations Manager. In this role, Richters supports VBSR’s efforts by advancing the organization’s mission through managing its financial and operations systems.
Richters has nearly 25 years of experience blending nonprofit and affordable housing accounting, arts production and advocacy, and solo entrepreneurship. He earned his degree in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island and spent many years with Hartford, Connecticut-based public accounting firm Whittlesy, the largest CPA and consulting firm in the state. Here he earned his CPA and formed a team focused on Low-Income Housing Tax Credit compliance.
Richters departed public accounting to focus on affordable housing, joining the affordable housing development company Vesta Corporation, pioneers in the use of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. At Vesta, he supported existing properties with their day-to-day accounting needs while also partnering with the development team on properties under construction. During his tenure Richters was recognized for producing programs and events that improved company morale.
In 2020, Richters pivoted to the arts – teaching, producing and advocating. This work included production and promotion of Hartford’s Got Talent, spotlighting and supporting local artists, and partnering with nationally recognized cartoonist and producer Joe Young to develop community events and social media promoting Black excellence and an accurate version of Black History. Richters also served three years as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Windsor Art Center in Windsor, Connecticut, supporting local artists showcasing a mix of talents, viewpoints, and cultures.
Richters and his wife recently relocated to Burlington, Vermont, where he formed Pop Fusion LLC, a solopreneur venture producing customizable, gourmet lollipops.
“Ed’s background in accounting, entrepreneurship, and advocacy is a perfect fit for VBSR at this time as we seek continuous improvement of our financial and operations management,” said Roxanne Vought, executive director of VBSR. “His knowledge, skills and expertise will benefit our members in ways seen and unseen, adding value to their VBSR experience. We are grateful for Ed’s energy and enthusiasm in his role.”
