VBSR Executive Director Roxanne Vought to Depart in May 2025

Board of Directors Actively Seeking Uniquely Qualified Candidates for Role

Burlington, Vt. (January 10, 2025) – Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) announced today that Roxanne Vought will depart her post as the organization’s seventh executive director on May 30, 2025. After a total of 10 years with VBSR in various roles, she is leaving to support an aging parent. VBSR’s Board of Directors has begun a comprehensive search for their next executive director during the organization’s 35th year.

“The decision to leave VBSR is a difficult one – the hardest I’ve ever made. Yet after exhaustively exploring alternatives, I’ve determined that this is the best path forward for my family,” said Roxanne Vought, executive director of VBSR. “My decade with VBSR has been an incredible journey, and I am deeply grateful for the dedication and support of our members, staff, and partners, and the trust they have placed in me to steward VBSR’s mission: to leverage the power of business for positive social and environmental impact.”

Vought’s tenure as executive director began in parallel with the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. She evolved the organizational culture, transitioned VBSR into the remote work era, and forged numerous future-ready strategic partnerships within the business and economic development community. She elevated VBSR’s member-centric commitment with strong advocacy and over 30 events and programs each year including VBSR’s Annual Conference, which draws 450 state leaders. Vought has been a been a warm but firm voice championing a just, thriving, and transformative economy that works for all people and the planet.
