Nominate Someone for a VBSR Award

When a person or organization shows exceptionally strong leadership or innovation in triple bottom line practices and policies, we feel it’s worth recognizing the achievement, both to celebrate their accomplishments and to help others learn from their example. With this in mind, VBSR offers awards in four categories:

Nominate Someone for the VBSR Board of Directors

1) Eligibility

Any individual who is employed by or an owner of a VBSR member in good standing is eligible to serve on the board of directors, including both non-profit and for-profit members. Members are corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and sole proprietors. Individuals may join VBSR as “Friends of VBSR” but are NOT eligible for serving on the board and holding office. Cooperative businesses are considered for-profit members.

Members may run for either a “traditional” or “at-large” seat. However, only decision makers at for-profit companies with at least one employee are eligible for at-large seats (and at any time a minimum of three of the 10-20 director seats must be at-large). Terms are for three years, from January 1 – December 31.

Non-profit members are only eligible for traditional seats and must be a high-level decision maker within their organization. No more than two seats on the board of directors will be held by non-profit members.

2)  Criteria

The Committee looks for a demonstrated commitment to the mission and principles of VBSR, as well as to the organization itself, and optimum board diversity based on a balance of the following factors (the committee may conduct interviews to aid in review of the listed factors):

  • geographic location
  • company size
  • business sector
  • gender
  • skills and interests

VBSR committee participation (prior or present) is preferred but not required.
