Women’s History/Herstory Month Partner Round Up

VBSR partners with many incredible, women-focused organizations across the state. All of them are consistently working with strategic passion on behalf of Vermont’s women. Included here are but a few of the efforts these groups are making during Women’s History/Herstory Month.

Vermont Works for Women
VWW works with women and gender-expansive individuals to help them get and keep jobs that meet their career goals and needs. In their effort to support individuals statewide wherever they are in their career journeys, they host free, online workshops. Here are some of the workshops VWW is hosting in March:

  • Skills to Get the Job: Wednesday, March 9, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Disasters: Financial Preparation and Recovery: Thursday, March 10, 5:30 – 6:45 PM
  • Self-Advocacy through Communication: Tuesday, March 15, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Using Credit Cards: Thursday, March 24, 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM

Register for these opportunities and more here.

Don’t need a workshop, but might want a craft cocktail? Barr Hill distilling, Montpelier, will be donating all tips given at the bar in the month of March to Vermont Works for Women. Learn more here.

The Vermont Women’s Fund
Stand up, sign up…and be counted! VWF’s latest initiative, This Way UP, believes there’s power in numbers. They’re identifying and counting women business owners in VT for the first time in the state. Data by gender does not exist with the Secretary of State’s office and they believe this information matters.

By visiting ThisWayUpVT.com and taking the 10 minute interactive survey, you can make sure the voices of all Vermont’s working women are heard – and counted! Are you a female founder? Do you run your own business? Are you a freelancer or contractor? Do you have a side gig that brings in a little income? Are you a business leader? Head to ThisWayUpVT.com and stand up for all women-owned businesses!

Center for Women and Enterprise
Lifting up women benefits everyone. So, CWE helps aspiring women entrepreneurs and business owners launch and grow their business, providing access to the resources, tools, and support they need to achieve business success.

This month they’re offering several workshops/gatherings including How Strategic Growth Planning Can Accelerate Your Business (March 11) and are also encouraging participation in Google’s #IAmRemarkable programming throughout the month.

Change The Story
We love a good sunset here at VBSR, don’t you? But some endings, however colorful and lovely, are more bittersweet than others. The Change The Story Vermont initiative was launched to deploy philanthropy, programming and policies that would fast-track gender equity in Vermont – and they did what they set out to do! The effort was always envisioned as a time-limited initiative and VBSR is proud to have partnered with the team along the way these past seven years.

There’s much more to do, of course, but Vermont Women’s Fund, Vermont Works for Women, and the Vermont Commission on Women will keep the momentum going. In the meantime, please join us in celebrating the sunset of Change The Story VT this month. Learn more here and be on the lookout for an end-of-month farewell video.

Outright Vermont
Outright VT provides support and resources for queer youth in Vermont. Trans and gender expansive youth deserve safe and inclusive spaces to explore their gender identity and build relationships with people who validate them. Check out Outright’s Events Calendar, including Trans Group and Friday Night Group – in March and beyond.
