Vermont Sierra Club Accepting Nominations for Transit Equity Awards

As we start a new year, we’re excited to recognize the contributions of Vermonters to transit equity. Transit Equity Day, which is on Thursday, February 4th, is a collaborative effort of several organizations and unions to promote public transit, walking, biking, carpooling and electric vehicles as a strategy to combat climate change.

The Vermont Sierra Club is joining this day of this action by hosting our first-ever Transit Equity Awards, and a Transit Equity Day Virtual Conversation cosponsored by the Vermont Natural Resources Council. Throughout the month of January, we will be accepting nominations for community volunteers, public servants, businesses, nonprofits, and municipalities. The awards will be presented on February 4th at 7 pm.

So we wanted to ask you—who do YOU think has made vital contributions to transit equity in Vermont? Throughout the month of January, we will be accepting nominations for community volunteers, public servants, businesses, nonprofits, and municipalities.

If you’d like to submit a nomination, please simply reply to this email or fill out the quick nomination form here.

During the event, we will host Laura Jacoby of Old Spokes Home in regards to her involvement in the Transportation Equity Coalition. Old Spokes Home is building a Transportation Equity Coalition made up of individuals and organizations who represent communities ill-served by our current transportation systems.  Coalition members will give an overview of transportation equity, the critical role it plays in achieving social justice, and what it looks like in Vermont.

We look forward to seeing your nominations!
