VBSR Welcomes City Market as Newest Champion Member

– Coop Becomes 13th Sustaining Member of VBSR –

Burlington, VT – The Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that City Market, Onion River Coop has become VBSR’s newest Champion Member.

“We are thrilled to welcome City Market as a Champion Member of our organization,” said VBSR executive director Jane Campbell. “They have long supported member colleagues, helping Aqua Vitea launch on-tap Kumbucha, joining Citizen Cider’s tanker club, and serving as a retail outlet for McKenzie Country Classics, Groennfell Meadery, Lake Champlain Chocolates, August First and many more. They use their business to support countless nonprofits each year, have continually led the way in environmental well-being, and work diligently to offer creative and competitive benefits to their staff.”

Allison Hope, City Market’s Director of Community Engagement feels this is a natural next step in City Market’s relationship with VBSR. “We are proud to be part of the VBSR family! The VBSR values reflect those strongly supported by our Co-op’s more than 12,000 Members, as well as Co-ops across the country. From the advocacy of those values with our state legislators to the regular opportunity to network with like-minded organizations, we’ve always been delighted with the benefits of VBSR membership. As we grow into our second store, it seemed natural to enhance our partnership with VBSR at the same time.”

Champion Members are VBSR’s highest level of membership. These members help the organization sustain programming and policy work throughout the year. Because of the high level of visibility involved with this level of support, each Champion Member must be voted on and approved by the VBSR board of directors. City Market was unanimously approved to become VBSR’s 13th Champion Member, joining AllEarth Renewables; Ben & Jerry’s; Dinse Knapp McAndrew, Gardener’s Supply Company; Green Mountain Power; Keurig Green Mountain; New Chapter; NRGSystems; Seventh Generation; SunCommon; Villanti Printers; and VSECU.
