The Skinny Pancake Produces Second Annual Big Tiny Love: A Festival for Kids

THE SKINNY PANCAKE TO PRODUCE SECOND ANNUAL ‘BIG TINY LOVE’ KIDS FESTIVAL AS PART OF THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN MARITIME FESTIVAL

The Skinny Pancake is excited to be putting together the second annual Big Tiny Love festival on July 29th as part of the 12th annual Lake Champlain Maritime Festival. This free family-friendly event will focus on live entertainment from local musicians and entertainers as well as games and activities from Vermont educators, child-care professionals and other organizations. Performers include: Mister Chris & Friends, The Hokum Bros., Linda Bassick, Ukulele Kids with Joe Beaird and Modern Times Theater. Other activities will include family yoga classes from Sangha Studios, local food education from City Market, toys and games from Lake Champlain Waldorf School and Georgia’s Next Generation childcare. There will also be a beer tent featuring beers from Fiddlehead Brewery. The event will be held in Burlington’s Waterfront Park from 10am – 3pm. Proceeds raised from donations and food and beverage sales will benefit the University of Vermont Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital.

Headliner Mister Chris & Friends is well-known for his Music For Sprouts education series at Bread & Butter Farm as well as the popularly received Vermont PBS series, ‘Mister Chris & Friends.’

Lake Champlain Maritime Festival Director Mike O’Brien is pleased to have Big Tiny Love back for a second year at the festival, which also includes four nights of ticketed musical acts in the later evenings. “It’s all about the water,” O’Brien says. “This all ages event, paired with the other late night concerts, will help draw additional people and awareness to the Lake Champlain Waterfront.”

While best known for their restaurants located across Vermont and New Hampshire, The Skinny Pancake sees community engagements like Big Tiny Love as an integral part of their mission. “It’s a lot of work to produce an event like this,” Founder/Owner Benjy Adler notes, “but the word ‘fun’ is in our mission statement and we’ve long sought to bring a family-friendly event like this to the beautiful park outside our front door. We really hope the community comes out yet again to have some big fun at Big Tiny Love.” The Skinny Pancake fully intends to continue to grow this event and produce it for years to come. Last year’s event attracted over 500 kids and adults, and attendance is expected to increase this year.

The Big Tiny Love festival shares its name and cause with the previously released children’s music album of the same name, a compilation organized by Burlington-based videographer Jaime Williams comprising songs by many of Vermont’s accomplished musicians. “I personally experienced the amazing work done by the team at the UVM Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit when my daughter surprised us six weeks early and felt inspired to support the hospital and celebrate their work through this album and the festival.” Williams plans to produce a second volume of Big Tiny Love: the album in 2020.

Big Tiny Love takes place at Burlington’s Waterfront Park on Sunday, July 28th from 10am-3pm. Additional support for the festival is provided by City Market and KidsVT.
