SUNCOMMON’S CLIMATE ACTION FILM FESTIVAL RAISED $8800 FOR LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS

Waterbury, VT. — SunCommon hosted their first ‘Climate Action Film Festival’ earlier this year to inspire local climate action among attendees, while raising money for local environmental advocacy organizations. After hosting nearly a dozen local events throughout Vermont and New York’s Hudson Valley, SunCommon is proud to announce that they raised over $8,800 through ticket donations to the events.

“SunCommon’s mission is to use our business as a force for good, and the Climate Action Film Festival allows us to inspire climate action through the power of storytelling, while also supporting local organizations we work alongside to address the climate crisis”, SunCommon co-founder Duane Peterson shared.

SunCommon partnered with The Vermont Youth Lobby, the Vermont Public Interest Research Group (VPIRG) and Vermont Natural Resource Council (VNRC) to support their grassroots climate organizing efforts. The donated funds will go to support these local group’s work on the front lines to pass strong climate legislation in the Vermont state house.

“VPIRG was proud to partner with SunCommon on this project to support our grassroots efforts in fighting for tangible climate action in this year’s legislative session,” said Ben Edgerly Walsh, VPIRG’s climate and energy program director.
