Run for City Market, Onion River Co-op’s Board of Directors!

Are you a Member of City Market, Onion River Co-op?  Are you interested in learning more about co-op policy governance?  It’s elections season for City Market’s Board of Directors and there’s still time to run for one of 4 available seats this year!

Due to a vacant seat, City Market will be choosing four seats in their upcoming election; three of these seats are for 3-year terms and one seat is for a 2-year term to finish out the vacated seat. The three candidates who receive the most votes will be elected for 3-year terms, starting January 2020 and ending December 2022. The candidate with the fourth most votes will be elected to the 2-year term, starting January 2020 and ending December 2021.

In an effort to better educate new candidates about Board work, including the time commitment involved and the associated responsibilities, the Board has created a list of optional preparedness activities. These include attending an orientation, attending a Board meeting, and some reading on cooperative governance.

The final scheduled Board Meeting before the deadline to apply is coming up on Monday, August 26 from 6pm-8:30pm at our Downtown store.

There will also be one more opportunity to attend an orientation with our Board Facilitator before applications are due. The final scheduled orientation is coming up on Tuesday, August 27 from 6pm-7pm at our Downtown store.

Please RSVP to Liz Jarvis at ljarvis@citymarket.coop to attend either the Board Meeting or the orientation.

The deadline to apply for the Board is Tuesday, September 3.
