Rock Art Brewery Toasts Vermont’s First Solar-Powered Beer

SunCommon helps brewery fully offset electricity with solar

SunCommon of Waterbury has helped Rock Art Brewery of Morrisville become the first Vermont brewery to fully offset its power needs with a 200-panel rooftop solar array. Rock Art Brewery unveils Vermont’s first solar-powered beer, Sun Rocked IPA, as a toast to the 20-year-old brewery reaching a new milestone: going solar.

On Tuesday, June 27th at 1 p.m. a press conference will be taking place at Rock Art Brewery in Morrisville, where brewing and canning of the special edition Sun Rocked IPA will be underway!

“Rock Art Brewery and SunCommon’s values are so aligned – this was an obvious pairing,” said Mike McCarthy, Solar Project Consultant for SunCommon. “Businesses are always looking for ways to reduce their cost, and they can’t get away from their power bill. By going solar, they’ve turned a significant monthly expense into an investment in their business. A win-win.”

As Vermont’s largest solar business, SunCommon believes that everyone has the right to a healthy environment and brighter future – and renewable energy is where it starts. Energy from the sun can power our lives and build vibrant communities. Our mission is to tear down barriers to clean energy and use our business as a force for good.

SunCommon was chartered as one of Vermont’s pioneering Benefit Corporations and is a Certified BCorp based on a rigorous third party assessment of our commitment to the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit. The business is headquartered in Waterbury where most of our 100 workers operate out of Vermont’s largest net-positive office building, which produces more energy than it uses.

2017 is Rock Art’s 20th anniversary and we are proud to have reached a goal of becoming 100% solar powered! All electrical needs are being met by the sun’s energy.
