National Life Recognized For Corporate Philanthropy

National Life was recognized recently for its corporate philanthropy by a group dedicated to supporting nonprofits.

The Northern New England chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals presented its “Outstanding Corporation” award to National Life at a luncheon during National Philanthropy Day.

National Life was recognized for the work of its charitable foundation, which distributes $2 million in grants to nonprofits primarily throughout northern and central Vermont and the Dallas area each year.

The association in particular highlighted the National Life Foundation’s cause to end childhood hunger in Vermont, an initiative that is just getting under way.

“We’re humbled to be honored for our work,” said Beth Rusnock, president of the Foundation. “The Foundation reflects our parent company’s values to Do Good in the communities where we work, live and play.”

In addition to making general purpose grants, National Life also sponsors a variety of programs and projects through corporate sponsorships. It also provides 40 hours of paid time off to each of its employees to volunteer at a nonprofit in the community. The company’s annual Share the Good campaign is currently under way in which employees can have up to $2,000 in donations to charities matched by the company.
