Lake Champlain Chocolates donates chocolate amid COVID-19

An update from Lake Champlain Chocolates:

Healthcare staff holds chocolate eggs donated by Lake Champlain Chocolates “A highlight for us last week was donating over 150 pounds of chocolate eggs to the UVM Medical Center, Home, Health & Hospice (formerly VNA), Spectrum Youth Center, and Meals on Wheels. We are continuing our operations in a modified way in hopes that we can provide some small moments of joy with chocolate during the COVID crisis.” – Meghan Fitzpatrick, Lake Champlain Chocolates

It is without a doubt a time of uncertainty and anxiety for all of us; however, it is also clear there is a new normal for our family company. What does this new normal look like for Lake Champlain Chocolates?

First, we are open for business, serving our customers’ needs – retail, online and retailer partners. As a food manufacturer, we are deemed an essential operation and able to continue operations while adhering to CDC guidance. It’s important to remain open so our employees continue to have jobs.

Second, we are operating with the highest safety practices so our employees remain healthy.

Third, our administration offices are closed and all employees who are able are working from home.

I am incredibly grateful and proud of our entire team at LCC for their flexibility and dedication, their responsiveness and optimism. I am also appreciative of the strong relationships we have with our partners and suppliers, which are crucial as we navigate through this challenging time.

I’d like to give a heartfelt thank you to our loyal customers who continue to order online, pickup at our flagship store in Burlington, or purchase our chocolates at their local grocery store – you keep us going and give us hope and strength until the future improves. It is with great gratitude that we have your support during this unprecedented time, particularly during Easter, a very important holiday for our business. COVID-19 testing site staff member holds handful of chocolate eggs donated by LCC

In turn, we are doing everything we can to give back to our local community by donating chocolate to first responders, local youth centers, and essential volunteers and workers.  We will continue to find ways to help our community as long as this crisis lasts.

We remain focused on the safety of our employees and the ability for us to keep making chocolate. This time of social distancing and staying at home isn’t easy, and so LCC is doing its best to provide the chocolate you need, when you need it. Our hope is to give you one small moment of joy as we look forward to better days ahead.

Please stay safe and take care.
