Do Good Fest Raises $35,000 For Branches of Hope Cancer Patient Fund

Annual Music Festival Has Raised $93,000 Over First Four Years

Montpelier, Vermont National Life Group’s fourth annual Do Good Fest, Presented by The Point, over the weekend raised $35,000 for Branches of Hope, a fund that helps cancer patients with expenses during their treatment.

The annual festival, which this year attracted more than 7,000 people, has now contributed $93,000 to the cancer patient fund at Central Vermont Medical Center, helping countless Vermonters pay expenses ranging from transportation to heating bills while they’re undergoing treatment.

“Doing good is contagious and everybody wants to be a part of it. We’re proud that we’re able to bring the community together to help support our neighbors through Branches of Hope,” said Mehran Assadi, chairman, CEO and president of National Life.

National Life produces and underwrites the annual, free festival. All of the proceeds from a $20 parking fee are contributed to Branches of Hope, along with a donation from the National Life Group Foundation, for a total of $32,000.

Additionally, several vendors and co-sponsors of this year’s festival made contributions, bringing the total to more than $35,000. The additional donors included Harpoon Helps, the charitable arm of Harpoon Brewery, and King Arthur Flour.

Besides raising money for Branches of Hope, the Do Good Fest also provided an opportunity for 30 nonprofits from around the community to tell their own stories about the work that they do.

The Point, Independent Radio, is the presenting sponsor of the Do Good Fest. The Point’s program director, Zeb Norris, helped to produce the appearance of this year’s headline bands.

The Do Good Fest is also sponsored by Harpoon, Seven Days, Montpelier Alive and the National Life Group Foundation.

Planning has already begun for Do Good Fest 2018, which will be held July 14.
