City Market Celebrates 20 Years in Downtown Burlington!

Burlington, VT – This February, City Market Onion River Co-op celebrates 20 years at their Downtown Store! Throughout the month, the Co-op will be celebrating with giveaways, pop-up outdoor events, and storytelling.

Each Friday in February, Co-op staff will be giving out free warm beverages and treats from local vendors including Stewart’s Bakery, Krin’s Bakery, My Little Cupcake, and Jones the Boy. These pop-up events will begin at 10am on 2/4, 2/11, 2/18 and 2/25 while supplies last.

Additionally, City Market is excited to release an anniversary video outlining the Co-op’s evolution from a buying club to Burlington’s Downtown grocery store. The video consists of interviews with individuals who were instrumental in the process which included a contested city council vote and the adoption of an agreement with the city to meet the needs of all community members. The video can be found here.

John Tashiro, City Market’s General Manager says, “We’re thrilled to celebrate 20 years at our Downtown Store this February and to reflect on our unique role in this community over the past two decades. We are eternally grateful for the commitment of so many individuals who fought to ensure that the Co-op would meet the needs of the community and for the innovative partnership with the City of Burlington. We look forward to many more years of serving the greater Burlington community!”
