Call for Nominations to Recognize Business Innovators in Vermont

Burlington, Vt. (July 5, 2022) – Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR), the statewide, nonprofit business association with a mission to leverage the power of business for positive social and environmental impact, is now accepting nominations for three awards that encourage and showcase the growth and impact of socially responsible business activity in Vermont.

Awardees of the VBSR Inspiration and Innovation Award, the VBSR Young Changemaker Award and the Terry Ehrich Award for Lifetime Achievement will be recognized among their peers at the 21st Annual VBSR Award Ceremony this fall.

Previous recipients of the Terry Ehrich Award for Lifetime Achievement include socially responsible business icons Jen Kimmich of The Alchemist, Cindy Turcot of Gardener’s Supply Company, Duane Peterson of SunCommon, and Ted Castle of Rhino Foods – among other notable leaders. Last year, the VBSR Innovation and Inspiration Award recognized HELM Construction Solutions and the VBSR Young Changemaker Award brought attention to the medical cannabis advocacy work of Ashley Reynolds, President and Co-Founder of Elmore Mountain Therapeutics.

“For more than 30 years, VBSR has been transforming what business looks like, how it works, and who benefits. Our members are changemakers and innovators, with impact reaching far beyond the marketplace to advance leading-edge policy and practices, bolster communities, shape the Vermont brand, and fuel the social responsibility movement,” said VBSR’s Executive Director, Roxanne Vought. “These awards amplify and celebrate the inspiring business leaders among us who exemplify VBSR’s vision of a just, thriving, and transformative economy that works for all people and the planet.”

The VBSR Innovation and Inspiration Award recognizes VBSR member organizations who have accomplished innovative and/or inspirational achievement within the past three years in two or more of the areas of Planet (Environmental Impact), People (Social Impact), and Prosperity (Economic Impact).

The VBSR Young Changemaker Award recognizes an individual under age 40 who has led the formation of a socially responsible enterprise that has been in operation for three or more years. The awardee is selected based on their ability to use the power of business to advance innovative solutions to society’s challenges for the good of the planet, their employees, and their community.

The VBSR Terry Ehrich Award for Lifetime Achievement has been given annually since 2002. The award is given to a person exemplifying Terry Ehrich’s sustained commitment to the environment, workplace, progressive public policy, and community.

VBSR members and friends are encouraged to nominate qualifying business leaders for each of these three awards through www.vbsr.org through Monday, August 1.
