POSITION OVERVIEW

The Program Manager is broadly responsible for design and execution of activities and events to engage Young Athlete, Unified Champion School, SO College, and Community Program participants. These activities will promote physical and mental health and physical fitness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Manager is responsible for:

  • Designing and executing sports, recreation, training, and competition activities aligned with Strategic and Operational Plans. Manage and administer year-round programs that include a wide range of in-person and virtual fitness, sport, and other competitive and recreational opportunities at the local, state, and regional levels across all program constituents.
  • Implementing strategies for new athlete, local program, and school recruitment to be incorporated into the SOVT growth plan; work collaboratively with the Engagement Manager to ensure growth goals are achieved.
  • Differentiating programming opportunities for full range of SOVT constituents, tailoring experiences and communications to each group of constituents and working closely with the Engagement Manager ensure opportunities are received and utilized.
  • Designing overall volunteer structure including individual roles and committees. Delegating workload to ensure broad availability of all activities to applicable program constituents.
  • Working closely with the Engagement Manager to establish a solid communication plan to develop a deep, connected volunteer base for Young Athletes, Unified Champion Schools, Colleges, Community and Health programs to support program implementation.
  • Infuse and elevate athlete voices in selection and delivery of programming opportunities. Utilize athlete input to inform and enhance athlete experience.
  • Ensuring games, UCS, and health supplies/equipment are in good working condition.
  • Manage process to ensure appropriate state level documentation for all training and competitions: Games Management System database, athlete medicals, coach certifications, affiliated paperwork, insurance certificates, in-kind donations, and awards recording.
  • Track participation and impact metrics across program activities. Measure and evaluate results to make recommendations to improve the quality and consistency of participant experience across state-wide programming.
  • Work with the Program Director to identify opportunities to support Local Programs or address inconsistencies in program delivery.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Long periods of standing, and moving around, especially while at events.
  • Work requires occasional nights, weekends, and travel. Travel by automobile to communities throughout VT for events and competitions is required. Employees must maintain a valid VT driver’s license and manage travel arrangements, including overnight accommodations.
  • Safe driving practices is required, including the wearing of seat belts. SOVT employees are expected to follow motor vehicle laws of each state in which they drive for business purposes, including laws prohibiting the use of cell phones while vehicle is being driven.
  • Every employee must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, without posing a threat to their own health and safety or that of other individuals.
  • Assist in loading and moving various materials, sometimes into personal vehicles or other vehicles as needed.
  • Good vision is required for reading a variety of documents and for computer work.
