POSITION TITLE: Mental Health Initiative Director

REPORTS TO: Chief Impact Officer

PURPOSE OF POSITION
Lead and manage United Way’s Mental Health Initiative using a Collective Impact framework to engage partners and effect systems change, leading to more effective and efficient services and resources to support mental health and well-being across Northwest Vermont. The Director will drive and oversee internal and external functions, including outreach and engagement, convening and facilitation, communications, advocacy, alignment of activities, capacity building, data, and evaluation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a small team of staff working together to provide backbone functions to the initiative, including outreach, convening, communications, data, reporting, and evaluation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of partners across multiple sectors
  • Work with Chief Executive Officer and Chief Impact Officer in planning and managing the strategic direction of the initiative
  • Facilitate Steering Committee and Action Team meetings
  • Engage people with lived experience to participate in the initiative through Steering Committee, Action Teams, and/or other roles
  • Establish feedback loops for bringing input to the project
  • Utilize an equity lens to work to address barriers to participation in this initiative
  • Manage initiative budget and work with Steering Committee in directing flexible funds to support work of the Action Teams
  • Manage grant requirements, reporting, and deliverables
  • Advocate with and on behalf of the initiative partners and United Way
  • Represent United Way and the initiative at meetings, events, and other settings

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • Project Management for multi-partner, collaborative project
  • Grant writing and management (writing, documentation, reporting, budget)
  •  Public health, social work, or related background
  • Experience working with and among various sectors
  •  community building and systems change

SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS

  • Able to manage multiple tasks effectively with a high degree of organization
  • Ability to use or develop competencies using Microsoft Office tools and other platforms
  • Excellent communicator (written and oral)•Strong group facilitator
  • Able to work with and through conflict
  • Initiative and energy for moving the work forward
  • Flexibility for adjusting tactics and strategies as needed
  • Creativity in approach and solutions
  • Ability to actively support United Way’s diversity, equity & inclusion efforts within stated job responsibilities

SALARY RANGE
$55,000 – $70,0000
