Your Role:
The Mechanical Engineer provides engineering design, modeling, and drafting support to various teams across the organization. They work closely with production engineers and technicians on new capabilities and continuous improvement projects. They also work closely with product developers to create manufacturing drawings for our customers and vendors.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Focal point for mechanical design, modeling, and drafting at Chroma
- Provide support across the organization
- Maintain and organize drawing revisions, control, and storage
- Optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and maintainability
- Contribute to engineering projects, serving as a project leader (set priorities, organize resources, maintain timelines and budgets) as needed
- Communicate in a clear, effective and professional manner
- Support coworkers by helping when it is appropriate
- Follow through on tasks, responsibilities, and projects
- Be organized when solving problems, supporting project teams, or instituting goals
- Be adaptable to ever changing challenges
- Collaborate with colleagues to find the most appropriate solutions
- Take leadership roles on advanced projects or the resolution of problems
Required Education, Experience, and Eligibility Qualifications:
- Minimum of a BS in science or engineering or equivalent in years of experience
- 5+ years’ experience with drafting and the use of SolidWorks
- Experience with PLM or PDM systems such as Windchill or Kenesto for product data management
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques
- Experience with high-vacuum industrial equipment or thin film manufacturing processes is an advantage
