From June to September, Dorset Theatre Festival mounts 4 main stage productions, in a charming 300-seat proscenium theatre built from 3 restored pre-revolutionary barns. Every summer, Dorset Theatre Festival draws from some of this country’s most talented playwrights, actors, and directors to launch new plays that go on to national acclaim, mount regional premieres to bring the best of Off-Broadway to Vermont, and incubate emerging playwrights and artists.

About the Position:
Dorset Theatre Festival, an acclaimed AEA summer company in Vermont, seeks a Marketing & Development
Associate for its 2022 summer season. The position will begin work pre-season beginning immediately through
on or about September 7.

Reporting to the Marketing & Development Director, responsibilities include:

Community Outreach: Develop a deep knowledge of Dorset Theatre Festival’s Ticket Access Programs and build relationships with eligible groups and organizations; expand participation. Plan Community Partner Night receptions including inviting guests and coordinating sponsor donations. Gather and organize program statistics and improve the outreach database.

Marketing Support: Assist in the creation of the season playbill, show inserts, and sponsor recognition posters, including collecting biographies from all members of the company for the playbill. Help build and coordinate digital (social, eblasts, web), in-person, and grassroots marketing campaigns. Coordinate advertising and design calendars. Coordinate press outreach including scheduling and building press materials.

Development Support: Provide overall administrative support for the Festival’s fundraising activities, including maintaining the fundraising database and generating reports. Acknowledge all donations with thank-you letters and emails, and keep the donor list current in the playbill and on the website. Support donor events throughout the season, including the gala. Maintain RSVP lists. Build relationships with prospective and current donors and ensure regular positive communication. Assist in and support grant application and proposal processes.

Box Office / Front of House Support: Provide excellent customer service to box office customers calling by phone as needed in the pre-season. With Box Office staff, maintain the ticketing CRM (AudienceView/OvationTix) including creating events, pulling patron lists, data entry, running sales reports, and CRM updates as needed. Coordinate special events like Community Partner Nights, opening night receptions, etc. with Box Office, Front of House, and Company Management staff. Assist Front of House staff and volunteers in maintaining a high-level audience experience.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and writing skills, possess the ability to multitask, work well under pressure, be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and positive. Fundraising, box office, marketing, or graphic design experience desirable. This position requires nights and weekend shifts, especially during the summer. Familiarity with Excel and Google Docs required. Experience with AudienceView or another CRM/Ticketing software is highly desirable. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, photography, and videography preferred.


Salary is $625-650/week DOE; single occupancy bedroom in a shared house for the summer season available for non-local candidates, though local candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
