Marketing and Communications Intern | Unpaid Internship

Population Media Center is looking for a summer Marketing and Communications Intern who is excited about using communication strategies and tools to share information about the issues PMC works on, places and people we work with, PMC’s theory of change, and our transformative projects.

The Marketing and Communication Intern will gain valuable experience research, writing, and editing stories for print and digital channels, such as blogs, newsletters, and donor reports. In this role, you will work closely with the Digital Marketing and Advocacy Manager to support overall PMC marketing objectives, along with building out projects focused on your interests and skills in the field. Plus, this year, PMC’s marketing team is building out a new website and interns may have many roles to support this undertaking.

Primary duties, based on interest and priority, may include:

  • Writing and editing stories for print and digital publication
  • Photo editing
  • Social media content creation
  • Building out photo libraries, communication tools, and other structures for efficient internal operations
  • Reviewing marketing metrics
  • Exposure to development and marketing customer relationship management systems (Salesforce and Hubspot)
  • Involvement in staff meetings with PMC global teams

Ideal candidates would work 12-20 hours a week and be comfortable with a remote work setup.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Enrolled in (or recently graduated with) a communication, marketing, journalism, or another related program.
  • Passionate about Population Media Center’s work in the rights of women and girls, population, and environmental sustainability.
  • Familiar with and ready to learn more about digital communication tools like websites, blogs, social media, and email marketing.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communications.
