Strolling of the Heifers
Executive Director | Full Time
Location: Brattleboro, VT, USA
Strolling of the Heifers, Inc. is looking for a professional dynamic, experienced, up and coming Executive Director to take our successful mission and programs supporting agriculture, job growth, farm-to-table entrepreneurship and innovation into a progressive vision for the future. The ideal candidate will demonstrate past accomplishments in program development and will develop new and dynamic strategies to advance the Stroll’s mission.
Strolling of the Heifers: more than a cow parade.
Yes, for 18 years Strolling of the Heifers hosted an annual agricultural pageant, including cows parading up Main Street in Brattleboro VT (imagine the Running of the Bulls, Vermont-style), celebrating farming and farmers in the Green Mountain State, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from here and away. But much more than that, Strolling of the Heifers is a non-profit organization that connects people with healthy local food, encourages and facilitates innovation and entrepreneurship in the farm/food sector, and supports the development of strong local food systems and healthy, sharing, connected and resilient communities.
How do we do that? Look at our Slow Living Summit, presenting experts in sustainability since 2011; our prize-winning Windham Grows business accelerator for the food and agriculture sector; and our outstanding Farm-to-Table Apprenticeship Program, enabling underemployed Vermonters to find a place in our farm and food economy. These successful core programs have helped thousands of Vermonters connect and prosper around the ideals of sustainability, job growth, and the health and well-being of our rural lifestyle.
We need our new Executive Director to be: an inspiring leader for our staff, an outstanding speaker, a skilled creative writer, social media friendly and a professional dynamo able to engage the public, State and Federal legislators, business leaders, funders and more. We would like to hear about your accomplishments in the areas of growth and innovation, commitment to a cause, developing relationships and securing funds.
