Job Summary:

Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) has a tremendous impact on the lives of young people and a positive influence on the communities where our crews work and learn. The organization is funded by a combination of fee-for-service, education & training, and philanthropic revenues. The Development Coordinator supports and enhances fundraising efforts so the organization can fulfill its mission.

The Coordinator is part of a collaborative Engagement Team. This group connects hands-in-the-earth Corps Members with a broader community of supporters including alumni, partners, businesses, and members of the local community. The Engagement Team primarily supports fundraising, Member recruitment, and alumni services.

The Coordinator processes gifts and thank donors, puts mailings together, makes sure the information in our records is accurate and up-to-date, and collaborates with the team on gathering stories and photos from the field. This position is great for a detail-oriented problem-solver who wants to ensure that key VYCC stories are told to those who will be most inspired to invest in our future.

Essential Functions:

Donor Relations and Gift Processing

  • Provide donors with a personalized and satisfying giving experience by ensuring they are properly thanked, acknowledged, and Process gifts accurately; prepare and send thank you notes in a timely manner; correspond with donors by phone, mail, email, and in person.
  • Oversee data entry and integrity of information in The Raiser’s Edge database; extract data to assess the department’s progress and the effectiveness of specific activities. Generate accurate and thorough reports as needed.
  • Identify donors who should receive personalized attention, and who may have the ability and interest to increase their giving. Seek to re-engage lapsed donors and secure new donors. Collaborate closely with the team to grow and strengthen our community of supporters.
  • Personally attend to new Invite them to engage with VYCC on digital channels and at events.
  • Implement sound processes for ensuring the security of gifts and donor financial

Appeals and Grants

  • Collaborate with the Director of Community Engagement on direct mail Create accurate, segmented mailing lists; merge and print letters; and oversee the production process. This often includes working with an outside print shop as well as producing smaller batches of personalized letters in-house.
  • Collaborate with the team on researching, writing, editing, and submitting applications for foundation grants, corporate grants, and public funds.
  • Support the team in meeting deadlines for grant applications and grant

Events, Communications and Alumni Relations

  • Collaborate with the team to grow e-mail lists and social media followers, and to maintain healthy data in MailChimp.
  • Visit crews in the field to gather photos, stories, and Collaborate with the team to share content through blog posts, email marketing pieces, press releases and media pitches, and social media posts.
  • Provide logistics support for events and significant Tasks might include promotion, ticket sales, set up and clean up.

As a member of the Engagement Team and the broader VYCC staff, proactively support and collaborate with team mates on additional projects and tasks.

  • Desire to learn
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred:

  • Experience with fundraising
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with external customers
  • Experience working with databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred)

This position is based out of the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps Headquarters Office at the historic West Monitor Barn, in Richmond, VT. Our office is a collegial, bustling, and fun open office atmosphere, which offers staff opportunities to interact and collaborate. Compensation & Benefits:

  • Starting salary for this position is $41,600, commensurate with Exempt from overtime.
