Who We’re Looking For
HELM is seeking a full-time Construction Business Consultant to join our growing team and expand our impact. Our ideal candidate is passionate about business, has significant experience in the construction industry in a leadership or management role, and loves mentoring, coaching, and training. You are an exceptional communicator, a strategic thinker, and like us, want to change the world. You are skilled at thinking big-picture, able to support a company to develop its vision, and can also get down into the weeds to troubleshoot day-to-day challenges. For this hire, we are particularly looking for candidates with experience in construction accounting, bookkeeping, QuickBooks, financial analysis, human resources (recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance evaluation), and operations.

Working for HELM
We offer the opportunity to work from anywhere in the United States, in a fully virtual workplace. HELM offers a competitive compensation package ($46/hour or $96,680 annually full-time) including paid time off, an annual education/training stipend, access to professional coaching, paid volunteer time, 3% retirement contribution, health care reimbursement, a flexible work schedule, and a fun and respectful work culture.

Hiring Process
Hiring Timeline
June 1-July 1: Review applications

Week of July 10-14: First-round interviews begin

Week of July 17-21: Second-round interviews begin

Early August: Finalist interviews

Mid-August: Offer made (with an opportunity to meet the consulting team)

September 18: Target start date (flexible)

All interviews will be conducted via Zoom. Please note these dates are subject to change.

Interview Process
First-round interviews will be conducted by Co-Founder and Director of Operations & Finance, Kate Stephenson, second-round interviews will be conducted by Co-Founder and Director of Vision & Strategy, Mel Baiser, and finalist interviews will include both Kate and Mel. Finalists will be asked to review sample documents and prepare a short presentation. Finalists will have one week to complete this exercise and will be paid a set fee of $300, assuming 3 hours of work at $100/hour. Finalists will also be asked to provide the names of three references.
