The Communications Associate is a key member of the Marketing and Editorial teams. This role involves writing marketing copy and newsbriefs, simple graphic design, metrics tracking, photography, website maintenance, and social media scheduling to support the entire BuildingGreen staff. Position Summary:

The Communications Associate assists in the overall administration to ensure day-to-day tasks and operations in the Marketing and Editorial departments. The associate must be familiar with digital marketing software and be excited to create engaging content on news briefs, blog posts, web copy. Additionally, the position is responsible for generating data metrics reporting and researching trends in sustainable design and building.

A strong candidate for the Communications Associate will possess the following skills & attributes:

  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of digital marketing software: Google Analytics, Mailchimp, Buffer
  • Knowledge of SEO & Adwords
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office and Google Suite
  • Familiarity with Photoshop
  • Emotional intelligence and team spirit
  • Commitment to our mission is a must
  • Degree in journalism or marketing helpful
  • US work authorization required

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Generate content as requested on news briefs, blog posts, web copy
  • Provide research on potential editorial content and identify potential resources/interviews
  • Gather data and report out on website/social/email engagement
  • Generate regular research insights on trends in sustainable design and building
  • Maintain trending reports of social engagement & growth
  • Generate regular views on website activity/customer demographics/subscription levels/product sales to help generate insights and allow a deeper understanding of audience behavior
  • Assist in administration of events, online & in person
  • Oversee implementation of brand standards & identity

More details:

  • Salary is $36,000–$40,000 to start
  • Robust benefits including company-sponsored health insurance
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position
  • Clear room for advancement
  • This is not a remote position (although some work may be performed remotely on a limited basis)

Our office is professional yet casual. We’ve hosted meetings with congresspeople and major NGOs, but you’ll also see bare feet and dogs.
