Chiropractic duties include the following:
- Assess a patient’s medical condition by reviewing the patient’s medical history, by performing a physical examination, and reviewing pertinent records or imaging reports
- Analyze the patient’s posture, spine, and reflexes
- Conduct tests, including evaluating a patient’s posture and ordering x rays or other imaging as appropriate
- Provide neuromusculoskeletal therapy, which involves adjusting a patient’s spinal column and other joints
- Give additional treatments within the scope of practice, such as applying heat or cold, to a patient’s injured areas
- Advise patients on health and lifestyle issues, such as exercise, nutrition, and sleep habits
- Refer patients to other healthcare professionals if needed
- To keep accurate current patient records, to professional standards as required by law
Practice Development
- To encourage and develop teamwork & integration within the practice
- To identify overall patient health needs and strategies to address them
- To advise on policy within the continually changing environment of healthcare delivery
- To evaluate and audit care
- To participate in multidisciplinary protocol development
- To facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary education and collaboration
