Two nationally acclaimed and award-winning authors will be leading a dialogue about a new economy that works for women (and everyone else) on August 5th and 6th in Cabot, Vermont. Riane Eisler will keynote on Saturday, she is President of the Center for Partnership Studies and internationally known as a systems scientist, attorney working for the human rights of women and children, and author of groundbreaking books such as The Chalice and the Blade: Our History, Our Future, now in 26 foreign editions, and The Real Wealth of Nations: Creating a Caring Economics.

With Riane, Rickey Gard Diamond of Montpelier who is the author of a new book called Screwnomics: How Women (and the men who love them) Can Make Economic Change, will be discussing how we can take action to change the almost invisible economic structures that cause runaway inequality and ecological disaster. Rickey was one of the founders of Vermont Women and has been a contributing editor for 22 years, winning the National Newspaper Award for in-depth investigative reporting in 2012 for a series she did called An Economics of our Own.

The camp is hosted by Vermonters for a New Economy at the Headwaters Garden and Learning Center in Cabot, VT. Headwaters is an ecovillage with a mission to educate people about new ways to live in harmony with the natural world. “Economic practices, and money and banking in particular, are at the root of some of our most difficult environmental issues,” said Gwendolyn Hallsmith, a resident at Headwaters. “We can accomplish a lot if we focus on high leverage strategies for change.” To register for the event, go to: https://womanomics.eventbrite.com.
