About this event

Vermont and the world are facing the impacts of climate change and it’s time to act. The initial Vermont Climate Action Plan, released on December 1, 2021, outlines steps to cut climate pollution and help Vermonters prepare for extreme weather and other impacts caused by climate change. The webinar will focus on the process to develop the Plan, key recommendations with an emphasis on the buildings/thermal sector, and the ongoing work of the Climate Council and Agency of Natural Resources.

This lunch time webinar will be led by:

  • Jane Lazorchak, Global Warming Solutions Act Director, Agency of Natural Resources
  • Brian Woods, Agency of Natural Resources

A live Q+A will follow the presentations.

More about the presenters:

Jane Lazorchak

Global Warming Solutions Act Director, Agency of Natural Resources

A graduate of UVM, Jane got her start with The Nature Conservancy here in Vermont working in stewardship and conservation planning. After earning a Master of Science from the Ecological Planning Program at UVM, Jane began her career in public service with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department. Throughout her 15 years with the Department, Jane served in various roles at the Department, most recently as the Public Land Section Chief, where she worked with landowners, colleagues at the Agency and partner organizations to conserve more than 10,000 acres of land and oversee public land management for the Department. These experiences, and many more, have prepared Jane for current role as the Director of the Global Warming Solutions Act within the Agency of Natural Resources. As the Director, Jane worked closely with the Vermont Climate Council to stand up Vermont’s Initial Climate Action Plan in December of 1. The plan speaks to how the state will cut our emissions while investing in our rural communities to adapt to climate change, build resilience and enhance the sequestration of our working and natural lands.
