The COVID-19 pandemic has introduced a world of uncertainty to many aspects of life. In this webinar we will explore the cost impact that COVID-19 is likely to have on your employee health benefits program. Join VBSR and Hickok & Boardman HR Intelligence as we delve into cost impacts, withheld costs, and Federal and State mandates associated with changing costs specific to the State of Vermont. Further, this pandemic has highlighted the strong link between chronic health conditions, and poor health outcomes, with approximately 90% of those who have been hospitalized by this virus also having an underlying chronic health condition, the majority of which are preventable. We will discuss strategies to implement programs that will assist in protecting your employees’ health and the health benefits plan’s costs in the future.


Meet our presenters:


Steve May Steve May serves as the Senior HR and Benefits Consultant for Hickok & Boardman HR Intelligence.  Steve has more than 27 years of experience in the healthcare market as an underwriter and health benefits consultant.  Prior to joining Hickok & Boardman, Steve worked for The Segal Company where he led the East Region Public Sector Health Practice.  More recently, he worked for Milliman as the lead consultant for large employer groups.  Steve has worked closely with the states of Connecticut, Vermont and New Hampshire and has served as a health care benefits consultant for the State of Vermont for nearly 20 years.



Maribeth Spellman


Maribeth Spellman serves as the Director of Workforce Engagement for Hickok & Boardman HR Intelligence and is committed to working with employers at every stage of the employee life cycle to attract, motivate, develop and retain engaged employees. Maribeth has over 20 years of experience in the employment and personnel fields, serving most recently as the Commissioner of the Department of Human Resources for the State of Vermont, where she was responsible for providing the full range of HR services to a workforce of over 8,000 employees.
