VBSR Virtual Workshop Series: Effective Communication Among Remote Employees
Join VBSR, Erin Lander of Good Culture Works, and Beth Peters of VIVID Workplace for a two-part workshop series discussing tips and tools to keep remote employees engaged, connected and productive. Participants are welcome to register for one or both of the workshops in this series.
Many of us have team members working remotely for the foreseeable future – and for some of us, remote work will be a large part of the future definition of “workplace.” This changes the relationship between employees, colleagues and managers. To successfully navigate these changes, we all need to learn new ways of communicating and engaging with one another when we can’t be face to face.
Workshop 1: Communication and Engagement Among Remote Employees
Thursday, April 22nd
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Engagement starts with communication. During stressful times, you can help alleviate some of the uncertainty your employees and teammates are facing by providing clear and consistent communication. If you haven’t taken a look at your communication plan for a while, or if you’ve been making it up as you go along (we’ve been there!), it’s time to act on the opportunities you have to increase engagement by sharing more with your team.
In this interactive workshop, which is designed for employees at all organizational levels, we’ll look at how a robust communication plan can energize your team and increase collaboration, job satisfaction, and productivity.
In this workshop, we’ll explore:
- Key reasons for a communication plan & how to create one
- Communicating effectively with a diverse workforce (including generational diversity)
- Sharing goals & progress updates focused on the “why”
- Gathering feedback about engagement/communication
Workshop 2: Important Conversations with Remote Employees:
Tools to Effectively Communicate When It Really Matters
Wednesday, June 16th
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
We’ve all heard of “difficult conversations” – and have probably been in at least a few of them. Having these conversations remotely can make them even more challenging for both the recipient and the person delivering the information. But it doesn’t have to be that way!
In this workshop, we’ll flip the script on “difficult” conversations and discover how to share important information in a clear and supportive way when you’re working remotely. (Hint: regular engagement and a focus on appreciation make it easier!)
In this workshop, we’ll explore:
- Steps to take before and after important conversations
- Communicating about change
- Facilitating performance-based or disciplinary (or insert your own descriptive word here) conversations
- The importance of providing ongoing, real-time feedback
This workshop is geared towards managers and leaders, but employees of all levels will benefit from participating.
Registration for this workshop is free for VBSR members and $20 for non-members to attend. The workshop will take place virtually, and the details to join the workshop will be sent via email to all who register, in advance of the event.
SHRM-Certified Professionals: VBSR is a SHRM Recertification Provider and each of these workshops will provide 1.5 PD credits for SHRM-certified professionals.
