Join VBSR and HELM Construction Solutions for a workshop exploring how to align your facility investments with your mission and values. How do the facilities your business owns or rents reflect your company’s values around sustainability? Whether you’re planning on renovating an existing building or building new, the HELM Construction Solutions team will walk you through the process of defining the project’s goals, building a collaborative project team for an integrated design process, through to the completion of a successful building project. Using a number of case studies from Vermont-based businesses and organizations, we’ll look at how they navigated the construction process, made a lot of hard choices along the way, and ended up with a building they were proud of. We’ll also explore options for third party green building certifications, resources available to VT-based businesses, and how to assess the ongoing maintenance and operations costs against the initial construction cost.

This workshop is a great fit for sustainability professionals and anyone involved with facilities and infrastructure decisions at their company or organization.

Kate Stephenson is a Partner and CFO/COO at HELM Construction Solutions and is based in Montpelier, Vermont. Kate is a leader in the fields of green building, professional education, sustainability, and business management. She’s worked with established and emerging businesses and non-profits to achieve triple bottom line metrics, develop business systems, and plan for a dynamic and resilient future. In addition, she’s served as an owner’s representative for many building projects in Vermont and helped organizations navigate permitting, capital campaigns, budgeting, and incentive programs.

Business Consultant/Estimator/Project Manager, HELM Construction Solutions

Brad Richards is an Estimator, Project Manager, and Consultant at HELM Construction Solutions and is based in Portland, Maine. Brad has over 20 years of construction experience and has worked as a carpenter, supervisor, project manager, and director of operations for residential remodeling companies in Maine and Massachusetts. He enjoys project planning as much as executing a build, and loves to work as part of a team. He has developed training programs for carpenters and supervisors, and has experience implementing and improving company practices.
