Champlain College Elevator Pitch Competition | Tuesday, March 6, 2018
On Tuesday, March 6, beginning at 8:00 PM, 18 Champlain College students will demonstrate their best presentation and persuasion skills as they compete in the Annual Elevator Pitch Competition, celebrating its 11th anniversary this year. Students will deliver their 90-second “pitch” to an executive (dubbed “The Suit”) in a simulated elevator before a panel of judges. The event is patterned on national competitions which teach budding entrepreneurs the importance of presenting a “big idea” to an executive as succinctly and convincingly as possible. Champlain’s competition broadens the contestant pool by offering three categories of competition: Entrepreneurs, Job/Internship Seekers, and Nonprofit/Social Advocates.
Winners earn bragging rights as well as cash prizes of $500 (1st place), $300 (2nd place) and $100 (3rd place) in their respective category. Audience members will be invited to cast a vote for their favorite E-Pitcher in each category American Idol-style, adding to the fun.
The Elevator Pitch is an annual collaboration between BYOBiz, Career Collaborative, and the Office of Institutional Advancement. Lead funding is provided by our friends at Heritage Automotive Group. The event will be held in Alumni Auditorium (375 Maple Street, Burlington) on the Champlain College campus.
