Join us as we mobilize virtually to celebrate 50 years of Earth Day! Each day features an opportunity for engagement.

The global response to the coronavirus pandemic is and should be all of our priorities right now, but we hope that the opportunities to engage below will provide our community practicing social distancing with a way to recognize the importance of Earth Day and it’s connection to transportation and commuting.

Thanks to our partners Champlain College Transportation, UVM Transportation & Parking and Vermont Clean Cities for helping put this week of engagement together!

As a way to support local businesses, we’ll be offering daily raffle drawings for $50 local gift cards — Just tag CATMA on social media or email us a photo, video, poem or story at info@catmavt.org — Facebook: @Chittenden Area Transportation Management Association | Twitter: @CATMA_VT

Please follow Social Distancing guidelines from VT Agency of Natural Resources!

Monday, April 20  | MOTHERLOAD Movie Screening 6:30pm-8:30pm

Vermont Clean Cities is hosting a FREE virtual viewing of MOTHERLOAD to kick off Earth Week. MOTHERLOAD is an award-winning crowd-sourced documentary about a new mother’s quest to understand the increasing isolation and disconnection of the digital age, its planetary impact, and how cargo bikes could be an antidote.

You must register for the screening using our Eventbrite page. On the day of the screening, we’ll e-mail you the link to access the film. Please join us for a post-film discussion on Facebook Live with film maker, Liz Canning and VBike Founder, Dave Cohen. Register today!

Thank you to the following sponsors for making this screening possible: Burlington Electric Department, CATMA, UVM Office of Student Life, UVM Office of Sustainability, VBike

Tuesday, April 21  |  #OneThing4Earth

The NH Department of Environmental Services launched the #OneThing4Earth Video Challenge in March to help recognize the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. The challenge aims to illustrate any one thing you do to reduce your environmental impact: Do you use less toxic/non-toxic alternative household products? Do you wash your laundry with cold water and let it hang to dry? Do you use reusable bags? We want to know!

Accept the challenge by posting video on any or all of their social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter) and use the hashtag #OneThing4Earth. You do not have to be challenged to participate, but remember in your video to challenge your friends, family, coworkers and others to join in (Check out the VT Clean Cities #OneThing4Earth video!). Remember to hashtag #OneThing4Earth & #CATMA2020

Wednesday, April 22 | EarthRise

“TOGETHER, WE EARTHRISE” — Earth Day has gone digital globally. Visit earthday.org and learn more about ways to take climate action.

Thursday, April 23  | Car Free Day

Try leaving your car parked for 24 hours. Walk or bike instead to make the streets open and safe for essential folks who need to drive.

Friday, April 24  |  Plan Your Sustainable Commute

What does your sustainable commute look like? Plan and test for your green commute back to work/school with Travelsmartervt.org. If you have the opportunity to test your bike or walk commute while the streets are quiet, do it!
