Join Burlington Electric Department for our 1st Annual Net Zero Energy Festival – A Supercharged Day of Family Fun

As Burlington moves along the road to meet our Net Zero Energy city goal by 2030, we all have roles to play to ensure that we reach our goal. To further equip our community with the know-how to take steps toward Net Zero Energy by reducing fossil fuel use which leads to saving money, Team BED has been hard at work this summer planning our first annual Net Zero Energy Festival. BED’s Net Zero Energy Festival will take place outdoors at BED’s 585 Pine Street offices on Saturday, September 17 from 9am to 1pm (rain date September 24) and will provide activities for folks of all ages. Visit burlingtonelectric.com/festival for more information.

Raffles, DJ & Live Music, Food Trucks
We’ll have raffles, DJ Melo Grant and two live musical artists – Brett Hughes and DonnCherie McKenzie, kids activities hosted by the Vermont Energy Education Partnership, and food trucks, including the Pizza 44 wood-burning oven pizza truck with rooftop solar panels, the Lake Champlain Chocolates ice cream truck, Meef’s Coffee Bus, food from City Market, Coconut Prince nutritional drinks, and the Micro Mobile Kitchen.

Test-ride an E-Bike, Test-drive an EV
We will be offering free E-bike test rides and electric vehicle test drives during our Festival. If you have never had the opportunity to ride and/or drive electric, then you are in for a special treat. Both modes of transportation help significantly with our reduction of fossil fuel vehicle miles traveled and make great contributions toward our Net Zero Energy goal.

Walk, Bike, Carshare
Achieving Net Zero Energy also involves walking, biking, and carsharing as much as possible. To support this mission, the Festival will include the Old Spokes Home mobile bike repair unit, Local Motion bike parking, CarShare Vermont’s membership table, and the “Walk to Shop” trolley team. Leave your internal combustion vehicle at home and join in the fun!

Heat Pump, Solar, Lawn Care Info
Been thinking about installing a cold-climate heat pump to replace your fossil-fuel burning gas boiler? How about rooftop solar? Ready to mow electric? Learn more about heat pumps, solar, and E-mowers from our vendor partners and our very own BED energy experts.

Be an Energy CHAMP!
Along the road to Net Zero Energy, we like to encourage Burlingtonians to be energy champions. And who better to convey the message of a champion than everyone’s furry, green mascot, the Vermont Lake Monsters CHAMP, who will be joining us from 11:30am to 12:30pm for hugs and photos.

See you on the 17th!

So Many Rebates. Of course, you do not have to wait until September 17 to go electric. We encourage you to visit burlingtonelectric.com/rebates to learn about BED’s many impactful rebates available when you go electric. Check them out and save!
