Building Employee First Workplaces: HR Policies & Handbooks
Tuesday, June 2nd

This workshop will take place virtually via Zoom Meeting.

 

This workshop will take a deep dive into the ins and outs of creating, improving, and implementing personnel policies and an employee handbook that put social responsibility at the forefront. Attendees will learn from business and human resource leaders who will present a breadth of theory and real world examples, equipping attendees with ready-to-use tools for improving their HR policies and employee handbooks.

Brittany LaValley

 

Brittany LaValley, Company Care Manager, Mamava

Brittany LaValley is a multi-faceted professional with broad industry experience ranging from operations to sustainability. She is passionate about creating well-run and well-supported systems that lead to a happy work environment. Her work ethic is paralleled only by her ability to provide levity in most any situation. She considers herself an eternal learn-it-all. Mamava is a women-owned and certified B-Corp dedicated to transforming the culture of breastfeeding.

Kristina Brines is a Director at Paul Frank + Collins in the Employment + Labor Law Group.  Her employment practice focuses on a wide range of employment issues, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as workforce management, training, workplace investigations, and employment litigation.  Kris has been designated as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, New England, for each year since 2013.

Susan Graham has been an HR professional for over 30 years. Her move to Vermont 20 years ago shifted her focus from corporate HR management to the unique HR needs of the state’s relatively small employers. She established her own consulting business, taking on interim HR management roles that often involved leading organizations through significant HR transitions. In 2016, she joined NFP to work with their brokerage clients and other businesses throughout the area in developing and maintaining effective and compliant HR functions.

 

Beth Gilpin

With 25+ years’ experience providing HR, executive search and general recruiting services to Vermont growth companies and non-profits, Beth Gilpin is passionate about helping employers find, attract and retain the right people at all levels of an organization; navigate the complex world of HR and employee relations; and simplify and/or create processes, policies and procedures aligned with the organization’s values and supportive of the desired workplace culture.
Before running her own consulting practice, Beth served as HR Manager for Rossignol Ski Company and Skis Dynastar; Merrell Footwear and Karhu/Trak Skis; and Vermont Country Cyclers (d.b.a. Travent and Four Seasons Cycling). Beth keeps a foot in the outdoor product/activity side of her career by introducing others to the beauty of backcountry skiing through weekend clinics and tours at Bolton Valley.

 

VBSR’s Measure What Matters workshop series is your opportunity to learn from some of the best companies in New England, see how you measure up against industry leaders, and find new ways to improve your business operations. Workshop attendees will leave with tools for change and an expanded network of professionals who believe in business as a power for good! Modeled after the B-Corp Impact Assessment, this new series will help members to better support their communities, reduce the impact of their operations on the environment and to create the best workplace for their employees.
