For the first time ever, Beenanza Design and Studio Bagru are hosting 4 block printing workshops over two days on May 18th & 19th under a tent at Foam Brewers in Burlington, VT. Tickets are available at Sevendaystickets.comand are $100.

This unique event will be hosted by Bethany Andrews-Nichols of Beenanza Design and Jeremy Fritzhand, founder of Studio Bagru located in Jaipur, India. Jeremy will be bringing over 60 hand carved wooden blocks with him from Jaipur for participants to print with using an assortment of colorful textile inks. Everyone is encouraged to BYOC – Bring Your Own Clothes, in an effort to increase awareness of sustainable fashion and environmental impact of our consumption.

Using the provided inks and blocks, many designed by Bethany, guests will get the chance to restyle their old (or new) clothes by printing designs on them. The events coincide with the Fashion Revolution movement. The Fashion Revolution was started in response to the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh that killed and injured thousands of garment factory workers. This movement encourages consumers to ask clothing brands “Who Made My Clothes” to increase transparency in the global apparel and textile industry.

Each ticket includes a blank tote bag for printing & a drink ticket.

Jeremy will provide a Block Print 101 demonstration to teach participants how to design and print on clothing and other textile products. Bethany will provide a brief guide to printing patterns – and all the possibilities that can develop from one or two simple shapes.
