We are so excited to have the 12th Annual Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge BACK and IN PERSON on Saturday, June 18. We will also continue to offer the virtual option for those who can’t make the day-of event.

The venue has changed to the Skyeship Base Area on Route 4 in Killington this year, and we have added in additional activities to the road rides. We’ll have trail mountain biking, paddling, a hike, and gravel grind. Now everyone can participate!

The Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge is an annual event to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling, mountain biking, gravel riding, paddling and hiking all while raising funds for the state’s largest nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreation to people with disabilities. The event returns as an in-person event for 2022 (after two years of virtual because of the pandemic), and we are excited to see everyone again!

What began as the 1st Annual Lookout Century Ride in 2011, in order to raise money for Vermont Adaptive, has grown into Vermont Adaptive’s largest annual fundraising event. Little did Phil and Joy Black know (owners of the Lookout Tavern) that their crazy idea to put on a century ride would expand into such an event.

Multiple road bike ride routes now loop through the towns of Killington, Pittsfield, Bethel, Barnard, Woodstock, Ludlow, Bridgewater, and Plymouth, Vermont. Quaint villages, the scenery of Route 100 and U.S. Route 4, the Crossroad of Vermont Byway, the seventh of its kind recently designated by the Vermont Transportation Board are incorporated into the routes.

The monies raised from this event support the adaptive programs and athletes of Vermont Adaptive year-round. It is also used toward scholarships – Vermont Adaptive never turns anyone away based on their ability to pay.

With many business and individuals getting involved over the years, the event raises upwards of $300,000 for the organization and has become a critical part of the annual budget. New ideas come and go for the event (including two years of a virtual event due to the COVID-19 pandemic) but one thing remains the same – this is an annual event not to be missed!
