Introduction to the 2016-2020 Strategic Plan
The original 2016-2020 VBSR Strategic Plan was developed by the VBSR board when VBSR was 26 years old. Looking back, the VBSR board noted that what had once seemed radical – the idea that being socially responsible goes hand-in-hand with being successful – had become widely accepted.

As we look ahead, we will continue our mission of advancing a business ethic that values multiple bottom lines – economic, social and environmental, and a continued focus on public influence and education.
At the same time, our goals center on reaching higher, inspiring businesses to strive toward offering positive shared value, rather than lesser negative value.
This plan also emphasizes expanding VBSR’s transformative potential and harnessing VBSR’s leadership as a champion of innovation to inspire and support businesses in generating positive social and environmental change.
With this mid-plan revision, we have clarified our goals and strategies, to more effectively guide VBSR as we continue to inspire and support our members, helping them hold the visionary light for our state, and leading the way for future generations.
