Economic Vitality & Sustainability
VBSR supports economic development policies that build on Vermont's strengths: our extraordinary workforce, high quality of life, beautiful open spaces and clean environment. We believe healthy people, healthy communities, and a healthy environment are the foundations of a healthy economy.
Current Action
We continue to support initiatives, such as the recently passed Benefit Corporation legislation, that build on Vermont's unique strengths such as our green brand and great quality of life. In 2009, we advocated for the creation of the Vermont "Farm to Plate" Investment Program, that is currently being implemented through the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund. That program focuses on economic sustainability through the development of local food production.

Legislative Activity
During the 2009 legislative session, VBSR was actively involved in the development of H.313, the Vermont Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. VBSR initiated the development of the Farm to Plate Initiative, a key economic development initiative contained in the bill.
