SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Intern will be responsible for a self directed quality process improvement project as well as data entry and other miscellaneous tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the Multi-site and Vermont Operations Teams in both a corporate office and production environment
- Work on a production process quality performance improvement project that will involve data collection, statistical evaluation, drawing of conclusions and implementing changes that result in improved process control.
- Develops project scope, schedule, and cost and performance requirements.
- Prioritizes day-to-day issues with short and mid term projects to support the improvement of overall product quality and reduce product variation.
- Understands processes to collect, filter, and interrogate data for problem identification and resolution in support of business and functional goals.
-Appropriately communicates to keep the relevant shareholders aware of focus areas, including status of open issues.
-Works with data to turn it into knowledge and to make logical decisions from it.
-Establishes and documents recommended volume-process control points and methods.
- Executes a closed-loop corrective action process, including verification steps.
-Works with the Coffee Lab, R&D, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and the Keurig division in support of all testing and verifications.
OTHER NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:
- Multitasking is required daily, and constant assessment of prioritization is required to best meet both the customer and business needs.
- Must work effectively in team environments, communicating and participating in a constructive manner.
- Must be proactive, anticipating and planning to meet objectives by finding ways to identify potential obstacles and improve processes and procedures to prevent occurrence.
- Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by GMCR and the department.
- Performs other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years or older at the time of hire
- Must be a current undergraduate student enrolled in a full-time academic program, majoring in Food Science, Biological Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or similar discipline.
- Must be in strong academic standing
- Must demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions.
- Must have strong math and statistical aptitude
- Must possess manual dexterity and attention to detail in performance of repetitive tasks
- Must have solid written communication and organizational skills
- Ability to uphold Safety standards, participate in Continuous Process Improvement.
- Ability to follow GMCR policies and procedures as well as our Operating principles.
- Computer word processing/ spreadsheet skills required; specialized program knowledge (statistical software, etc.) a plus
- Must have reliable transportation to be able to travel and work on occasion at each of the various Vermont Operations sites.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis and 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to constantly lift, bend, stretch and stand during entire shift.
